Shirley Graveyard

Location Information

Official Name: Zion Lutheran Cemetery
Common Names:
Shirley Graveyard
Driving Directions:
From I-43, take the Denmark/Hwy 96 exit and go west on Hwy 96 and follow it as it turns into Shirley Road (still Hwy 96).  Continue on this road, passing through the intersection of Hwy 96 and Hwy G.  Take a right on Zion Road (north), the cemetery will be on the right.

Physical Description:
This small cemetery is located on a blacktop/asphalt road and is surrounded by farm fields in all directions.  There is a fence that extends across the front of the cemetery, while the other three sides are surrounded by some trees and overgrowth.  There are not too many tombstones, but most of them are fairly new.  There is also a marker that states that a church used to be on the location.  This area is very quiet, and it is easy to view the clump of trees in the middle of the farm fields from the road (the area of the cemetery easily sticks out).
Trespassing Notice:
n/a
Other Notes:
This cemetery should not be confused with the cemetery that is located on West Shirley Road that is right next to the church by the intersection of Hwy G and Hwy 96.

Complete
Official Paranormal Report Filed:
None filed
Description of Investigation:
(not available for this investigation; this section was added on 01/08/07)
Case Classification:
Open
Explanation of Case Classification:
Shirley Graveyard was one of the few locations where the EMF meter actually spiked (a major movement caused by electricity that is not caused by power lines, noticeable electric sources, etc.).  These were some brief major spikes that occurred on the high magnetic field setting.  Even though all of the other instruments had normal readings, because of the EMF meter, WIX cannot surely make a haunted determination of this location.

*Please see the Investigations section for a detailed explanation about the types of WIX investigations, WIX procedures, and description of case classifications.  Please see the Equipment section for a look at WIX's equipment that it uses during an investigation.
